WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY 2022- INVEST TO END TB, SAVE LIVES
World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2022 |
Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious disease that is a major source of
illness and one of the leading causes of mortality around the world. TB was the
biggest cause of death from a single infectious agent until the coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic, ranking ahead of HIV/AIDS.
TUBERCULOSIS |
Every year on March 24, we observe World Tuberculosis (TB) Day to
raise public mindfulness of the disease's terrible health, social, and economic
effects, as well as to intensify efforts to combat the global TB epidemic. The
date denotes the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch declared that he had found
the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and
relieving this infection.
TB is still one of the most lethal infectious diseases on the
planet. Every day, more than 4100 people die from tuberculosis (TB), and almost
28,000 people become infected with this avoidable and treatable disease. Since
the year 2000, global efforts to eliminate tuberculosis have saved an estimated
66 million lives. Worldwide endeavors to battle TB have saved an expected 66 million lives since
the year 2000. The COVID-19 epidemic, on the other hand, has halted years of
progress in the fight against tuberculosis. TB deaths climbed in 2020 for the
first time in over a decade.
Invest to End TB, Save Lives |
This Year, the theme of World TB DAY 2022 is 'Invest to End TB Save
Lives- passes the earnest need on to invest resources to ratchet up the battle
against TB and meet global leaders' commitments to end TB. This is especially
important in light of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has jeopardized End TB
progress, and to guarantee evenhanded admittance to anticipation and care in
accordance with WHO's drive towards accomplishing Universal Health Coverage.
