Successful Exposure Visit of Multan Interfaith Forum (MIF) to Bahawalpur Support Group (BSG) at Bahawalpur.
PEACE PROMOTION THROUGH EXPOSURE |
Exposure visits are a vital preparing approach as it empowers the members from an alternate setting to communicate with and gain from one another, permitting them to see pragmatic/genuine circumstances of fruitful incorporation of feasible practices.
Pakistan Lions Youth Council (PLYC) is implementing Bahawalpur Support Group Project with the goal to provide a meaningful platform to different stakeholders of Bahawalpur to discuss issues of shared concordance, prejudice, and scorn material, which thusly will deny Violent Extremism gatherings of making advances into target communities. Bahawalpur Support Group is comprised of potential community leaders of Bahawalpur including elected representatives, district government representatives, lawyers, journalists, social activists, members of women chamber of commerce, academicians, women activists, and faith-based leaders with the rationale to provide a meaningful platform to various stakeholders to debate issues of communal harmony, intolerance and hate material, which in turn will deprive extremist groups of making inroads into target communities.
EXPOSURE VISIT BY MULTAN INTERFAITH FORUM (MIF) MEMBERS
Pakistan Lions Youth Council
hosted the exposure visit of Multan Interfaith Forum (MIF) members in
Bahawalpur district to share the best practices and learnings of both effective
models. It was a great opportunity for Both Forum members to view and learn
about the experience of other forum members operating in their respective
districts. During the exposure visit, broader information exchange took place
between both forum members. The Purpose
of the exposure visit is to view and learn about the experiences as well as
best practices each forum is practicing in the engagement of potential
community leaders having a strong influence in the policy circle to create an
enabling environment for the promotion of inter/intra-faith dialogue and
harmony as well as enhance tolerance within and across communities for
addressing violent extremism issues within their local communities.
The exposure visit was a real
step forward for the project as it was a real-time experience for the
participants on the struggle and hard work that goes into building the
successful project implementation.
The BSG members cordially
welcomed the MIF Forum Members in the district and demonstrate the activities
they conducted in the project; challenges faced and risk mitigation measures
for successful implementation of the project. BSG members also interact with
MIF forum members to demonstrate the achievement of the project.
The members of both the forums who were not only from different walks of life but also represented different schools of thought were very happy to meet and share experiences with each other. It is not only a matter of great pleasure for peace forums to visit each other's areas and participate in their activities, but also a great achievement for the Bahawalpur Support Group.
In the end, all the participants expressed their determination to ensure that similar exposure visits be held in the future as well to further strengthen peace efforts to promote inter-faith and inter-sect harmony by benefiting from each other's experiences can be accomplished in the best possible way.
Overall, it was a good learning
experience for Bahawalpur Support Group (BSG) Members as well as Project team
members and PLYC believes that more such exposure visits for BSG members also
planned in coordination with AeP which will help the participants to create
better understandings and learning’s which will prove quite vital in
sustainability of the forum once the project funding ceases.
